Barbara is part of the derivatives and energy practice groups. She negotiates sophisticated agreements for a Fortune 100 energy company, including: commodities derivatives; currency exchange swap agreements; agreements for the purchase and sale of energy commodities, including oil, natural gas, and electricity; and guarantees and letters of credit securing the aforementioned transactions.
She negotiates agreements with domestic and international counterparties, being familiar with both U.S. and European documentation.
Prior to joining OCS, Barbara was in private practice for six years, specializing in wills and estates, guardianship, and general contract law. Prior to operating her own law office, Barbara served as in-house counsel at Siebel Systems, Inc. for two years, where she was responsible for drafting and negotiating a broad range of contracts including consulting, training, technical, independent contractor and other service related agreements. Barbara was also of counsel for Bayer Corporation where she was responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts including licensing agreements, shipping contracts, sponsored research agreements and clinical research agreements.
Barbara has taught business and contract law at Suffolk University, Husson College and the University of Maine.

OCS has a great atmosphere making it a pleasure to come into work each and every day.
- If you no longer worked as a lawyer, what would you do?
If I no longer worked as a lawyer, I would volunteer and do pro bono work. Law is a skill set that I am able to apply to many things.
- What is your favorite part of your job?
I really enjoy working as a team with my client and interacting within my practice group.
- What is the most interesting thing you have ever done?
The most interesting thing I have ever done is moving with my children to a different country.
